Carbohydrate Analysis
The CCRC houses an interdisciplinary group of scientists with a wide expertise in determining primary structures of oligosaccharides, polysaccharides and glycoconjugates. In addition to NMR methods, the center houses an Analytical Services laboratory providing a wide range of chemical, chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods.
Suitable NMR hardware includes high sensitivity cryoprobes at 5mm, 3mm and 1.7mm sizes that can detect sub-nanomole amounts. Other specialty probes include high sensitivity 13C detection cryoprobes at 600, 900 MHz , and 1100 MHz to analyze large polysaccharides when proton detection is less efficient.
Cell-surface polysaccharides and soluble oligosaccharides can also be analyzed in intact whole cell cultures with our CMP-HRMAS (comprehensive multi-phase) probe.
